Fertility Smoothie . . . in a bowl?

Hello Nutters!

This morning's recipe is inspired by a great smoothie recipe a friend referred me to from Molly Sims. It is good for you regardless of whether you are planning to start a family or not, but I found getting all the ingredients together of a morning to be a little time consuming, and then a little difficult to drink 'on the run'.

As you know I am a big fan of a Chia-Oat pudding. They are so easy to make the night before, and if you're running late the container can just be chucked into your bag as you head out the door.

My mission : to combine the goodness of the 'Fertility Smoothie' with the handiness of our Chia-Oat Pudding. This is fantastic for you if you are hoping to fall pregnant, or if you are already pregnant.

The result? Perfection!

Enjoy!

Fertility Pudding

(This yields at least 2 serves)

1.5 cups Nut & Co Almond Milk (Straight or Creamy to preference)

1 scoop protein powder (something natural and clean, without a lot of additives or soy)

1 teaspoon organic Maca powder

1 tablespoon organic Acai powder

1 teaspoon royal jelly

1 cup organic oats

1.5 tablespoon organic Chia seeds

1 tablespoon organic Flax seeds

1 teaspoon bee pollen

1) In a jar (or anything with a lid) combine the almond milk with the protein, maca & acai powders, and the royal jelly. Put the lid on & shake vigorously to incorporate.

2) Now add in the oats, chia & flax seeds, then the bee pollen. Shake again.

3) Firmly replace the lid, and allow to soak overnight in the refrigerator.

4)  In the morning top with your choice of fruit (berries are a good one!) and enjoy!

NB: if you are allergic to bees or any bee product please omit the royal jelly & bee pollen.

Benefit Breakdown:

Almond Milk: There’s no cholesterol or saturated fat in almond milk. It’s also low in sodium and high in healthy fats (such as omega fatty acids, typically found in fish), which helps to prevent high blood pressure and heart disease.

Maca Powder: Is high in minerals (calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc), sterols, up to 20 essential fatty acids, lipids, fibre, carbohydrates, protein, and amino acids.

Acai Powder : Improves fertility by helping improve the hormone balance of women.  It also helps with absorbing minerals and vitamins, and helps secure the egg safely. Not to mention that acai has the one of the best nutritional values of any fruit on earth.

Royal Jelly : A naturally rich source of amino acids, vitamins A, C, D, E and B-complex vitamins, Fresh Royal Jelly possesses numerous health benefits

Bee Pollen : This byproduct supplement increases estrogen production which may result in the release of healthier eggs during ovulation.  Bee Pollen also increases sperm count in men, so a good one to add to your man’s diet.

Chia Seeds : Are among the richest in omega-3 fatty acids, iron, zinc and vitamin E -- all of which have been shown to help support fertility.

Flax Seeds : A rich source of Omega-2's, which are  great for the baby’s brain development. Even if you aren't yet pregnant they’re excellent to have in your diet now because your body needs the healthy fats to keep hormones functioning properly—so you can get pregnant in the coming months.
